Convert xls file to csv file in unix




















Using a shell script only is not possible, I am afraid, given the proprietary format that excel spreadsheets are in. But if I am not wrong we can use perl commands in unix scripts also? So what perl commands can be used to read the excel and write the same contents to a csv file. Most things that can be done in a shell script can also be done in a perl script and more.
